The Position

Join our dynamic work force at Clean Water Services! Field Operations is seeking a Field Construction Maintenance Technician 1 (FCMT 1). This position operates, maintains, constructs, repairs, and/or inspects sanitary sewer and storm sewer conveyance infrastructure and system components including manholes, catch basins, water quality facilities, flow monitors, and rain gauges. Within a year, employees are expected to develop technical competencies that will allow them to move to the FCMT 2 position ($22.92-$31.52 per hour).

Essential Functions

Qualifications for Entry

Knowledge of: materials, methods, and equipment used in storm/sewer line, water line, or road construction, maintenance, and repair; traffic control and flagging; construction safety procedures.

Skill in: use of hand tools; operation of riding mowers, backhoes, and dump trucks. Basic use of computer applications.

Ability to: follow oral and written instructions; read and interpret construction plans and maps; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work including coworkers, other District employees, and the public; learn, use, and operate work related programs; operate effectively in a team environment; communicate orally clearly and concisely.

The Organization

Clean Water Services is a water resource management utility for more than 520,000 people in urban Washington County and small portions of Multnomah County, Clackamas County, Lake Oswego, and Portland. Clean Water Services operates four wastewater treatment facilities, constructs and maintains flood management and water quality projects, and manages flow in the Tualatin River to improve water quality and protect fish habitat. Although Clean Water Services maintains a close working relationship with Washington County government, it is a separately managed and financed public utility.

Salary

Clean Water Services offers a comprehensive and competitive compensation and benefits program. The salary range for this position is $19.53 - $26.85 per hour. This rate includes a mandatory 6% employee contribution to the Public Employees Retirement System after six months of employment. Clean Water Services offers a selection of paid medical plans, dental, vision and life insurance. Vacation, sick leave and personal holidays are also provided. Clean Water Services supports ongoing training through a tuition reimbursement program. Any offer of employment will be conditioned on the successful completion of a comprehensive background check.
